Take a Tour Through Tremont

When I first came to Northeast Ohio almost three years ago, I had no idea what to expect.

I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and went to school at Indiana University, so needless to say I was unfamiliar with the Northeast Ohio region. I was recruited out of college to a local company, and, other than flying in for my interview and to do an apartment search, I had never spent a lot of time in the area. Luckily, a friend’s brother-in-law, who was originally from Ohio, recommended looking for an apartment in Tremont. He knew some of my interests—music, art, FOOD, etc.—and thought it would be a suitable fit. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I took his advice.

When I moved here three years ago, I settled into the cozy neighborhood of Tremont. From the very first time I walked my dog around the area, I knew I was home. From the plentiful local restaurants, to the adorable little boutiques and shops, it had everything I was looking for in a neighborhood. The people are charming, the food is delicious, there are dogs literally everywhere, and there is never a shortage of fun things to do (and all within walking distance!).

I’ve lived in Ohio for some time now—I have moved three different times, accepted new opportunities at work, and even gotten engaged—but one thing remains the same. Tremont is still my favorite place in town. I don’t know if it’s because it was the first place I called home in a new city, or because it’s simply an amazing little area of town, but either way, it never gets old.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Tremont neighborhood, I highly recommend checking out the local bars and restaurants. Dante and Ginko are some of my favorites, but soon there will be even more to choose from, as the opening of Bourbon Street Barrel Room andThe Spotted Owl will both be taking place this year.
