Built in 1912, the Westside Market holds some of the richest culture in the Cleveland area. The market is Cleveland’s oldest marketplace and now holds over 100 food booths that range from colorful candy stores to meat shops that sell full pig heads! A very large majority of the vendors are Cleveland locals and depend on their fellow Clevelanders to keep their business up and running. A trip to the market will ensure an amazing cultural experience due to the variety of diverse and inexpensive foods and the beautiful architecture of the market.
Wade Oval, located in University Circle, is home to Wade Oval Wednesdays. Every Wednesday night during the summer, Wade Oval turns into an electric environment with free music and awesome beer and wine gardens. These concerts are perfect to pack a picnic and take the family to enjoy the music, or take a date for a glass of wine! The only expense you’ll have is your beverages from the beer gardens and any meal you decide to indulge in from the many restaurants surrounding the area.
The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse is an amazingly beautiful four-seasons 1-acre greenhouse that was initially created to supply Cleveland’s parks and gardens with landscaping. Now, the greenhouse is open for the public to come view all of the diverse types of flora. This experience is completely free and is sure to bring some color into your life!
The former American Greetings Creative Studios building, built in 1905, is now home to a plethora of artists that work in many styles of art and media. The building holds about 40 tenants that have an array of paintings, sculptures, music studios, auctioneers, and a clothing line. You can go and check out everything West 78th Street Studios has to offer for free every third Friday of the Month. During these free events, the gallery also has live entertainment, many foods options, and a marketplace.
